Lafayette Pubic House
Paul Aldridge
50 Lafayette Circle ~ 925-962-9537
Paul Aldridge grew up hanging out with his grandfather watching LFC (Liverpool Football Club) games. His love of sports blossomed into a long career as a TVproducer for NBC Sports, the Pac-12 Networks and National Geographic.
In 2020, as the world of sports receded into the pandemic, Paul decided to take a leap of faith and turn an under-used restaurant space across from La Fiesta Square into the social hub of our neighborhood. The space has had an interesting history; it started off as a private home, then turned into The Art Studio, was recently repurposed as The Coffee House, and is now settled in as Lafayette Public House (part bar, part coffee-shop, part restaurant, and the best “meeting place” in town).
Paul and co-owner Christle Gorman, who had previously run The Coffee House, began a re-design and updating project which now features our town’s largest outdoor gathering space, a warm and inviting seating area inside, a full bar with a gorgeous tile face, and local art scattered about.
You will see multiple strollers parked on the covered patio. Town dignitaries can be seen in one-on-one meetings inside and out. Friends greet one another. Single diners scroll on their computers while sipping coffee. High school and college reunions sometimes compete with wedding receptions and corporate events in the evenings. In other words, this is the place to me.
But best of all, Lafayette Public House has become the East Bay brother of The Kezar Pub in San Francisco – a meet-up point for lovers of English soccer (especially Liverpool). With four TVs inside and two outside, this is also the place to catch the 49ers, Warriors, Giants or World Cup games in a fun, social atmosphere. In the summer, there is live music. Creativity runs deep with specialty cocktails and a fine selection of beer and wine, as well as a wide variety of finger foods and breakfast and lunch sandwiches, pastries and desserts.
Paul Aldridge can always be found sitting at the bar, drinking a cup of coffee and working on this and that. He is raising his boys in Lafayette. He went to Cal Berkeley. He loves this town and would love to meet you.
