Homebaked by Kate (HBBK)

Have you ever had a neighbor who was a good baker?  You invite them over for dinner and they bring a plate of amazing cookies, or moist, rich cupcakes, or some homemade concoction that their ancestors in Lithuania or Peru have been cooking for centuries?

Now everyone in Happy Valley has a neighbor of such prowess.  Katie Blair, born and raised in Ottawa Canada, moved to Lafayette 11 years ago, gave up her job in finance, dedicated herself to raising her 3 children, and started baking with a passion.   What started off as a simple tray of brownies for the school quickly turned into requests for birthday parties, PTA events and a long line of friends and acquaintances who wanted more and more.  The stamina and grit needed to start her own home-based business came easily to Katie who was a runner in college and coached cross country and track at Stanley Middle School.

She started with muffins, branched out to date squares and cookies and now can offer cupcakes, loaves of various flavors (lemon, blueberry, chia, pumpkin), date squares (secret family recipe) and Nanaimo Bars (you will just have to order some to find out what these are).  Currently, she sells her home-made granola online and at Diablo Foods.  Sweetened with honey, this granola is gluten free and delicious.

Katie focuses on flavor and quality.   It is homemade artistry.
